InternetInternetWe are passionate about the Internet at MUO and we continue to search it out for the very best. How to record macros in Google ChromeMacros can be a time-saver for repetitive tasks. Chrome does not have this feature, but extensions can be used. Here's how.
Macro is an organized sequence of keyboard and mouse inputs. Microsoft Office (Word Excel Excel Access) includes macro recording tools. These tools allow users to record repeating tasks in the Office software, and then replay them as needed.
It would be wonderful if Google Chrome had a similar tool to automate repetitive browsing tasks. You could then record macros to fill in web forms, log into sites and open multiple websites among others. Although Chrome does not have this feature built in, you can record macros from browsers using the iMacros or Wildfire extensions.
The iMacros extension allows you to record macros and is easy to use. This browser extension can be downloaded for free, but it has a limit of 50 actions. You can record unlimited amounts of data with the $99 iMacros Personal edition.
You can now record simple macros using the free iMacros extension.
You can also download the iMacros extension with prerecorded demo macros that you can use. Expand the window by clicking the white arrow near the Demo-Chrome folder. You can then choose to play one the demo macros.
To make them more specific, you can modify the scripts of those demo macros. You can change the website that Open6Tabs opens. To do this, right-click on the macro and select Edit. To replace the script's website addresses with the URLs of the sites that you wish the macro to open, delete them. To apply your changes, click Save and Close.
Click Settings on its Manage tab to open the options for the iMacros Extension. You can then configure options using the iMacros Setting tab, which is directly below. This tab contains master password options and replay speed, among other things.

Wildfire, an alternative to iMacros, allows unlimited macro recording and no action restrictions. The Chrome extension includes a diagrammatic workflow editor that allows you to modify macros.
Wildfire can be used to record Google Chrome macros like the following:
You can now choose to view the recorded macro in Chrome's context menu. Click on a website and choose the Wildfireoption. To play your recording macro, click the Run button.
After recording macros, you can edit them. Click the Wildfire Extension button or Go to Dashboard. To view saved macros, select Settings Favorites from the Wildfire window. The Workflow Editor will be opened again by selecting the macro's restore option. You can modify the event properties circles of the macro to change it (or other nodes).
Other options can be selected from the Favorites Tab for macros. Click the Set Shortcutoption in the Favorites Tab to add a keyboard shortcut for a macro. Next, choose a key combination in the Set shortcut dropdown menu and then click on the OK link.
You can use Wildfire's scheduler to schedule macros that will start automatically at certain times. To open this tool, select Settings and Scheduled from the Wildfire Window. To access the following options, press the NewSchedule button.
In the Workflow drop down menu, select a macro that you wish to schedule. To schedule a macro, click on the Calendar button in the Date/Time field. With both iMacros or Wildfire, you can automate any browser task in Google Chrome and other Chromium browsers.
The iMacros extension can be used to record short macros. Wildfire, which has a greater recording limit than iMacros, might be a better option for those who need to create more complex macros.
