Dark mode is a favorite feature of Gmail. You can turn it on on both your Android and iOS phones.
The dark mode, which can reduce strain on the eyes and be more comfortable for your eye health, is also better for battery life, efficiency and image quality.
We'll show you how to activate dark mode in Gmail using either a phone or computer.
Here's how to activate dark mode in Gmail desktop.
To send an email, click Create or to open it. The default color of your computer's system will display the message.
Dark mode is only applicable to your current Gmail account. If you have more than one Gmail account on your computer, dark mode will need to be enabled for each.

You can choose to change the Dark themes if you don't like it. You can change your Gmail desktop theme by going to Settings > Theme ( See all). Scroll through the available options until you make your choice.
Click on the theme to apply it immediately. You can choose another theme if you are unhappy with what you see.
Gmail desktop offers more themes options than Gmail mobile. You can even customize your signature to darken mode.

Android users can easily activate dark mode in Gmail. Here's how:
Dark mode is not available for Gmail desktop. There's one option: dark mode mobile. All Gmail accounts will be reset to dark mode once you have enabled it. All messages and emails on your mobile device will then be in dark mode.

You'll see that Gmail Settings is only available via mobile browser. It doesn't have dark mode support.
You can manage the dark mode in Gmail by going to Settings > General settings > Theme. There are three options: System default, Dark mode and Light mode.
